It is possible with the right amount of money and time. Being a 98 cavalier i wouldn't waste my time as it's not worth the money and modification you would have to do. Your best be would be to go to a junk yard and buy a 98 cavalier engine which is probably a 2.2L. You can get them around here for about $200-$300 used. It's a lot cheaper than modifying to make it fit.

No!! You can stuff a Caddilac Northstar V8 in there easier than a Sable engine. Nothin will line up on either one but at least for the effort and frustration the Caddy has 300 hp and some of the wiring fo the electronics is the same color. Me and my buddies have stuffed Chevy motors into old Fords but never a ford block into a Chevy

Not unless you plan to do a lot of cutting. The 98 Cavalier was never designed with a V-6 in mind so many body integrity issues will happen if you attempt this stunt. My advice is to get a turbo and mount it in place of the muffler. You'll get all of the power you need.

lets see.. mercury = FORD and cavalier = GM won't work without some major modifications.. You got the money and know how you can make it fit. Otherwise find the right engine for the cavalier

nope. trannys are different. but I sopose you could if you had the $$$ and the time to piece something together. Calvaliers are "throw away" cars and lose their value FAST. It's really not worth it.
