I need to know why I can't get into any messenger on my new computer, it keeps telling me about proxy settings

and about checking my firewall settings, my firewall is not on! Gees this is so frustrating! Please help!

Your messenger program is working off your internet connection. If you have a cable connection, you shoudn't need any proxies.

On a Windows computer, click Start->run -> type inetwiz ->click ok -> 1st screen, select "connect using LAN" -> 2nd screen: make sure nothing is checked or filled in -> 3rd screen: select no -> last screen: click finish.
