better off putting 302 heads on a 289, because all you'll end up doing is choking the engine and you will lose HP and torque.

all i know is they will fit.both 289 and 302 are good heads.i think the 289 is a older one.you might have to retime it.i know i had a 74 ford truck once and i put 79 heads on a 74 engine and i had to retime it.

You might have a slight increase in compression ratio. Valve timing might be off a bit but probably corrected with a slight tweak of ignition timing.

I think it will depend on what year the heads are from.
They should fit, but your compression ratio will change. How much depends on what year the heads were made. The newer the heads are the higher your compression ratio will be.
