When I was in grade 4, Santa got me a cool looking plastic device that turned out to be a multiplication times table from 1-9.

I will, of course, retaliate one day when my future kids eventually buy grandpa and grandma christmas presents.

Way back in the days before wash and wear, I received a house dress with yards of material in the skirt. With a husband and 4 kids, there was a mountain of laundry - things had to be dried on the solar dryer, dampened with starch, then ironed. The dress wasn't worn very often.

The worst gift I've ever received on Christmas was about 5 years ago when my own mother gave me a hideous neon orange sweater... I will never forget her huge smile as i opened that box. thinking i would like it... 6 months later i donated it to goodwill.

I was maybe 9 or 10 and I wanted a model horse bad. I open my gift and there is a tan colored horse with jointed legs real main and tail even had it's own saddle. Two minutes later my older sister opening a cowgirl barbie. First I was in denial but when barbie sat so perfectly on my horse, you do the math.

My worst present would have to be this very tiny and very very sexy shirt that my sister gave me. It was about an X-Small and I had just had a baby and I was still majorly overweight from the pregnancy. She expected me to put it on immediately, not looking at the size of the shirt but at the very unrealistic low cut cleavage that I would never wear in the first place. I knew it wouldn't fit in the first place. LOL

What did she think, that I was one of those overweight people that wanted to flaunt it. Yuk, don't think so.

The worst christmas present by far i have ever recieved, would have to be these gray clothes from my aunt. Not only was it gray, but it was also baggy. The worst part was that every time i see my aunt, my mother makes me put on the outfit.

This very year, Xmas 2006, one of my best buddy absolutly wanted me to have a sneak peak at one of the 2 gifts he got for me this year. Over the last few weeks he kept mentionning that I would royally freak out over what he got for me this year, no needless to say, my anticipation was on high...

However last Saturday I was allowed for a sneak peak at one of the gifts which is an original vintage still in box Star Trek do-it-yourself spaceship model (a Klingon cruiser or something). Obviously the thought is there and I appreciate his unique gift and how he must have found this, but unfortunatly, like I have been telling him over the last 3 or so years, my wife and I are actually trying to GET RID and/or sell off our collectibles and action figures, for space reasons.

This means that, unfortunatly, his gifts of good nature and perhaps good value (for the right person) will only end up taking up more space in our apartment until we find someone who will take it off our hands.

I think that, as we get older, our priorities change, but many people in our surroundings refuse to accept these changes...

A fez (the tall red hat Shriners wear). I never wear hats, but showed up at my parents place one Thanksgiving when I was in University wearing a ball cap. They were antique dealers and real space cadets. I should have known to say something when they commented, "oh I see you're starting to collect interesting hats now..." Runner up: a 3-piece plaid hard-shell luggage set (back in the day before wheels/handles) from said parents the next year. I told them I was leaving in January to hitch-hike through Europe and stay in hostels with friends. I even showed them my new high-tech back-pack but they didn't get the hint. They thought the luggage would be better for packing things without wrinkling...

The worst was last year, my sister in-law gave me a holey scarf that she knit in a bright snot green color, and a CD to a Jazz singer I had never heard of before. And because I didn't want to hurt her feelings I had to wear the scarf home and we had to put the CD on for a bit during dinner, to which only she knew the singer and songs that were playing.
But it worked out ok cause my Grandmother liked the Jazz CD so I let her keep it and I use the scarf for my dog when I take him for walks on cold days. LOL
