Theres tons of info on him out there. In Shakespeare's time he was not nearly as famous as he is now. There was another writer/poet who always stole the spotlight, his name was christopher marlow. Shakespeare only became popular towards the end of his life but it is safe to say his popularaity has trippled since his death. To answer your question one could ask what did shakespeare truly acomplish? He wrote, and he wrote well..but there are thousands of talented writers out there..why did shakespeares work change european society?

He was probably one of the greatest poets and playwrights of all time, and set the stage for succeeding literary artists and geniuses in related fields such as painters, musicians, writers, orators and dramatists of European descent.
