All rather ordinary ones .... always lasagna for dinner on Christmas Eve, all stocking gifts are wrapped, taking turns opening presents and watching each person, hanging old hand made ornaments our daughters made years ago when they were in school, keeping all Christmas cards from year to year - we have cards from many years ago, and it is quite special to look at them now, name tags don't go on the gifts under the tree until Christmas Eve, opening of one gift on Christmas Eve, assembling and hanging our "Moravian star", a lighted creche as part of our Christmas decorations, etc. (I didn't realize we had so many!!)

When I was a little girl, Christmas was so much fun. First, we would go over to my grandparents house and have a huge dinner and then we would open up our gifts there. My parents would leave early, so they could go back to our house and get things all set up for the kids. We used to get so many presents, our whole living room floor would just be covered in gifts. Then, my grandparents would bring us home, driving through town very slowly, looking at all the beautiful Christmas lights and looking for Santa up in the sky. And you know what, we saw Santa in the sky every single year! Those Christmas's were the very best! Now, we carry on the same traditions for our children, except my mother does the dinner, etc. We always celebrate our Christmas on Christmas Eve, that way our own families can have their Christmas on Christmas morning together. But, the best part of it all, is the Christmas Eve dinner. We have broken away from the traditional foods and have a mexican fiesta. We have tamales, tacos, enchiladas, rice, beans and cornbread. For dessert we have the choice of: lemon and chocolate pie, cherry cheesecake, banana split cake and a ton of cookies. My mother makes all of this food from scratch. And I mean everything! She wants to do this all be herself, no help and she is now 71 years old. The only thing we help with is setting up the tables and chairs. She does the rest! We aren't even allowed to help clean up afterwards. She says it helps her to remember the times with her parents when she does all the dishes. It kind of gives her some quiet time to herself to remember her own memories. Believe me, we try to help her, but to no avail. Anyway, Merry Christmas to you and your family and may you have a Happy, Healthy and Safe New Year! God Bless! (PS. We do remember what the true meaning of CHRISTmas is. We always have and we have taught our children the same!)

we have a tradition in our family tha I started 7 years ago especially for my kids and my neices and nephews. It is now their favorite part of christmas. I have alarge family and buying little gifts for them all was getting expensive so to make a long story short , on the last day of school we take turns hosting a birthday party for jesus. We read the nativity story and the kids take turns adding a figure to the manger. We all bring a pizza, and the host that year buys a large Cake. We sing Happy Birthday to Baby Jesus and then later Santa arrives with a gift for each child that we purchased. We told the kids not to expect the little gifts anymore from the aunts and uncles as this party would replace it. ( we buy a 20.00 gift and the adults exchange names for a 25.00 gift) it has saved alot of money for us all and it has helped bring back the meaning of Christmas and family.

When my daughters were young, we lived in California and my mother made a special fudge and other cookies and sent to us and other members of the family living far away from her. Starting right after Thanksgiving my girls started asking if Grandmas box had arrived yet. As soon as it arrived they went for the fudge. The year after my mom died, I found her recipe and made several batches. Every grandchild got a package of the fudge and the recipe. Since then, I make the fudge every year and give as gifts to all the individual family units. It is a way to keep my mother a part of our family Christmas.

I go to my aunt's house on my mom's side at about 6ish and we open gifts on the eve, and Christmas day we open gifts at my house then at my grandma's house on my dad's side and open gifts (we used to go to my aunt's on my dad's side, but she's a stupid person and divorced my awesome uncle, so that's all changed now) But yeah, traditions are awesome. :-)
