What I would do is contact the former employer and inform them that they are still paying him. He is then free and clear from any demand of payment (I think). It is their mistake, and it is costing them. But is he sure they are paychecks? They could be vacation pay (that was earned, but not taken - that is a employees, and they get paid for it), and any money that was in accounts that goes back to people when they leave the company.
If I was your friend, I would contact the former employer and find out what is going on, and let them know what is going on. Being honest will be his saving grace. . .

Yes, the money is not his. The contract between the employer and employee terminated when the employee left, so the company does not owe any money to him. If they send money to him by mistake, it is illegal for him to keep it.
Once they realize their mistake, they will ask for the money back; and if he refuses to return it, they can sue.
He should let them know in writing that this is happening.

they can't save your paycheck! pass to the EEOC and record a ideal grievance and you additionally can record a grievance with the LLR (exertions-licensing regulations Board). in case you come to a determination to leave without 2wks be conscious, touch the EEOC first and ask for a fashion you leave the activity and clarify you have been threatened by utilising your latest corporation...it relatively is likewise against the regulation. sounds like a bad place to paintings--i could be looking too.

It is not his money because he has not earned it, however I might consider putting the money in an account and let it draw interest until they ask for the money back, then return it.

are you kidding? of course he has to repay the money. It isn't his. Your friend should tell the employer what is happening and promptly refund the money he has been paid that isn't his.
