The Governtment says that the _____ (Driver's License, Deer, etc) belong to them. Then what is the government but the people? And if that is the case why do we have to pay to something that theoretically already belongs to us? I might only be a freshmen in High School but this dosen't make a whole lot of sense. Tell me what you think.

Just because the government is made up OF the people, and is FOR the people doesn't mean everything it owns can be taken for free. Your high school is made up OF the students, and is FOR the students but that doesn't mean you can walk in there after hours and take home a t.v. from the av club now does it.

I suggest a return to civics 101. The government is an elected body. It is elected in a representative Republic to make laws to protect the population and to ensure the growth and stability of the country.

The people elect representatives TO govern, but the government is not the people themselves. That would be a democracy, and none have existed since Greek or Roman times. (In fact, those were not democracies either, since slaves and peasants were not allowed to vote).

The Government is for the people and of the people but it is itself a business so to speak and as this is not a marksist country (yet). the government(federal and state) is entitled to the right to tax people on certain things. This allows them to pay for things like the war in Iraq and other things that supposedly help us. Honestly the Government workers are Greedier than a freshman in highschool and want money$$$$$.

I think that you are on to something, but you need to remember that even though you own something, it doesn't mean that costs dont occur. We have to pay to upkeep the system for our own benefit. If you think of it like a car...even if you own a car, you still need to pay for gas, oil, insurance, maintnance, etc. If you don't than eventually, the car won't benefit you at all, infact it will become a problem for you.

Gee Drew, a freshman in high school doesn't know why we need rules? Come on kid. Without rules, we would have anarchy. Without permits for stuff, the gubment wouldn't have funds to pay the enforcers of the laws.
did you know that the gubment pays people to pave the roads?
to pay police and firemen?
Really! Would I kid you?

I was going to post the same thing as sq+ft.

Well put, my friend. Drew, don't try to think logically until college - then when you take those logic courses, you will understand.
