My daughter just got assigned a project that needs to be made for a science fair. I never had one ever in my school years...
Do you have any ideas or websites that I can look at??
I want it to be fun yet simple enough to do for a 6 year old.

Please Help!

teddy bear....thank for the idea but the topic has to be something that you can prove in science. You can't prove anything from making the solar system model....
Maybe she can do that for something else.

I've got two neat ideas- how about a paper maschee volcano! Using red food colouring with vinegar in a glass at the bottom, drop some Sodium Bicarbonate into the caldera (top) of the volcano and watch it fizz over the side. Another trendy one is- Menthos and coke! Type in Menthos on the Internet and I bet you will get all kinds of websites with ideas on how to perform this and how to explain what's happening at your science fair.

If they have a long time to do the project, the way light, or colored water, or different kinds of soil, or different kinds of plant food, or different music playing, affects plant growth. If they only have a week or so, you'd need something simpler. One some of my friends do is testing to see how age affects memory, or audio vs. visual on memory. There are also lots of projects online if you just google it.

One thing we did when my son was small was to cut the top off a carrot, place it on some pebbles in a saucer of water, and wait for it to sprout. Kind of cool, especially for a small child. Works with a potato also. We also did the carnation with the food coloring, especially for St. Patrick's Day, green of course. Have fun!

When I was in first grade my grandma got me some styrofoam balls from a craft store and we painted them in the colors of the planets, and used coat hangers to ake them into a mobile. Michael's or any big craft store will have them in lots of sizes. Just remember MVEMJSUNP!

do the experiment where you place several carnations in several vases and add different colors of food coloring and then it is absorbed. it shows how plants take up water
