John S missed the point. If you have a CDRW, his answer will work. If its just a CDR, formatting the CD will ruin the CD, not allowing you to burn data.

You need to reinstall the driver, preferably from toshiba's install disks. Any driver you picked up from MS updates, probably corrupted the original driver.

Also, try burning CDs from Nero or Roxio instead of Media Player. You will have better luck and fewer errors.

I checked the specs on the Laptop and it has a DVD +/- RW which can burn DVD +/- R and CD-ROM at 24X...

So you should have software on your laptops that works with the DVD unit to burn software. This is called Sonic NOW! You need to find this software in the Start --> Programs directory...

Basically you need to format the blank CDROM before you can access it and copy files onto it... You will get a "Not Accessible" message if you try an access a non-formatted blanks CD-ROM...

Check out the site below to learn and understand how to burn CDROM....

Hope this helps...

Has it ever worked? Does it work with anything, or does everything fail? If it won't play anything, your DVD player might be shot. Before getting a new one, try to see if it's connected properly. Maybe a connector came loose. If it plays some but not all disks, see if the ones that fail are all -R or +R. Some DVD players only support one or the other, particularly the cheap ones they used to use in Dell laptops.

Hi,

Maybe the driver for your CD is corrupt. Have you tried installing the driver again. Or there could be many other reasons that cause this problem.
