I am in an odd position and need some advice. I was a small business owner that brought the company from 0-2mil per year, on products fo my invention then sold it.

I also have owned a consultancy company of trade and investment in Vietnam, and have a lot of success.

I am not done working by a long shot, and no longer want the stresses fo being a small business owner. (FInancial security.)

I have over 15 years experience as a distribution manager for major companies, but is a fall back position.

I would really like to be involved in product development. However, does my recent experience and consulting past measure up?

My college is AS only and numerous business, logistics, or management specific courses.

Thoughts?? Try both?

If you truly want to be involved in product development, that's the route you should go. I wouldn't worry about whether you think you measure up or not... let the market decide that. If you will talk to 1,000 (that's not a typo) interviewers, I'm convinced you'd get several offers. So start the resume and cover letter process and be willing to relocate to achieve your goal. Try sending out 20 resumes/letters daily... in just five days you'll have contacted 100 companies. Follow-up with a phone call; if they say they're not hiring, ask for a company they think needs someone in product development (you lose nothing by asking the question).

There can be many possible solutions to your problem...

Meet a career counsellor, talk to your mentor about the problem...

But if you looking for a change then visit any Job portal, If you happen to live in dubai or looking to relocate to dubai then there is one site I came across http://www.naukrigulf.com/

Maybe this can get you a very good change in your career.
