Should kids be slapped in the face or pampered like a queen

Neither, both are too extreme of measures. Different things work for different kids, so I won't get into specifics, but you have to be firm and the kid has to know you mean what you say and you will follow through. That is key. If you threaten but never follow through, they will lose respect for you over time and by the time they're a teenager, you've totally lost control.

the ONLY time I have EVER slapped my child on the face was when she knew something was a curse word and she said it anyway, to me.
Otherwise I do a spanking or a serious talking to. The spanking only happens, after I have made sure they understand that what they did was wrong. If it was a first time, and they really didn't know, I talk to them about why we don't do it etc. In all truthfulness I haven't had to spank my kids hardly at all. I think it was because I established early on that I was the boss, and what i say goes, and taught them to respect it. We have a great relationship and get along great, Thier ages are 7 and 4 by the way.

A small child should never be smacked in the face...reserve that for when they're teenagers.

Neither should they be spoiled. Pampering is different than spoiled though...although a child should never EXPECT to get their way but the occasional indulgence never hurts in the form of a surprise.

A balance of discipline (not humiliating, disfiguring or painful), love and pampering is the best combination.

All kids should get spanked. You can always tell the difference later in life.

I like Terri t's answer. Whatever it is, be consistent. I wouldn't suggest anything even borderline abusive.

slapped, not in their face unless they back-answer or use wrong words.

Smacked on the butt as needed when they are young....duct tape across the mouth when they are teenagers.

If those are your only two options, you have problems.
