You might have test anxiety.

If it's mild, you can train yourself to relax by doing many different quiet excercises before and during the test.

If it's more severe, then you will need to see a doctor, so he can test you (I know, the irony...).

Then, he will give your school the information so that they can make modifications for you to be successful when you test.

You can't avoid the testing, but you can avoid the stress.

Good luck!

Happy holidays!

Whether or not you realize it, people do get nervous when taking tests, and their minds go blank. When doing your math homework, you are not under the same pressure, and you have reference material nearby to look up answers if you need to. It's also possible that you get overly confident when taking the tests, and think you know all the answers, but could be missing something important.

Maybe you aren't understanding the test questions, or maybe they're "trick" questions. Maybe you copied your study notes wrong. Or if the tests are spontaneous, you haven't had sufficient time to prepare for them. The next time the teacher gives a test or a quiz, make sure you're studying the correct material, and if there's anything you don't feel confident about, be sure to ask questions. Get plenty of rest the night before so your head will be clear. Go over each question slowly and carefully, to make sure you understand it, and pretend that you're at home in your room studying. That may take some of the pressure off. Good luck!

Change your study habits like someone else suggested. Don't rush through the test. Check your work for careless mistakes (for example, sometimes you will rush and mess up a simple multiplication problem, something that you can catch if you double check your work). Maybe even give yourself practice tests when you study, have a friend or a parent make up problems for you to work on in addition to homework and pretend like its the real test.

Are you listening to Music and laying down, eating a sandwich and talking on the phone when you are doing your Homework? If you are, you study habits need to change. When you take your Tests, none of this is going on and your Re-call is Dramaticlly affected! Study in the Same Manner as you will be taking the Tests. Sit up, No music, no phone, no food...... Just like you are taking the test. You study in the Same type of Environment as the test is given. Your Re-call will be Great and your Grades will Skyrocket. Thanks, John.

also, careless mistakes....suggest to your teacher that she try grading the WORK that you did on a problem and try to find your mistake on your next quiz/test. i bet you accidently divided instead of added!
