Does your character and your Nexon account have different names in Maple Story?

They can - it's up to you. When you first sign up, you make your account name. Then when you actually have the game installed and you're all set to play, you create your characters; you can name them whatever you want - the same as your account name or not.

I'd personally recommend making the names different that your account name, just since it's more secure.
