my opinion is that 5th maybe 4th graders can easily understand the concept of the derivative. they won't fully understand calculus by all means, but maybe the power rule for the derivative would be helpful in middle school classes. I guess as soon as exponents are taught, teach the power rule along with it. In the same term at least. why wait?

Thanks to NCLB, this will wait, because teachers from grades 3-8 have to teach their students how to pass their assessments. I have seen students in 8th grade struggle with solving equations like 2x+3=9. Maybe save the derivatives and integrals for those who score high on standardized math exams. They will have a lot more fun with it.

I think the concept of derivatives is best shown through patterns and Speed/acceleration. Basic skills are not being taught below 5th grade though...yeah I said it Elementary teachers, wanna fight about it.

confident, in case you particularly take a seat and mope approximately it, it particularly is extremely all-too-uncomplicated to thoroughly depress your self with how undesirable the international is, yet alot of pollutants substitute into accomplished years in the past with open fires, open sewers and horse poo everywhere in the streets. a minimum of we now have much less illnesses (besides the very undeniable fact that undesirable diets are actually killing purely as many human beings by using fact the illnesses did). i think of the biggest concern for babies these days is that, as you assert, it particularly is frustrating for them to be waiting to arise with the money for to purchase a house and warmth it. yet it particularly is in all possibility by using fact maximum mothers and fathers have lived a mediocre existence (artwork, get married, have teenagers then retire) and that they tell their teenagers to try to also have a mediocre existence too. They tell their teenagers that existence is frustrating, etc and that funds is evil. yet I disagree. money isn't evil and teenagers ought to discover ways to attempt intense and function a solid - and wealthy - existence and not conflict for money like their mothers and fathers did. in case your targets in existence are too low, you're in threat of accomplishing them. in case you do no longer purely like the state of the planet, handle it. start up an environmental employer and make hundreds of thousands from it and help keep the planet on the comparable time.

Alrighty then...
Again, it depends on your state's standards (which are to be aligned with the national standards...y'know--No Child Left Behind). The districts are given leeway as to when in the year to teach it and of course the methodology BUT...kiddos here are introduced to it in 3rd grade...
