Unfortunately there are not too many kittens being rescued out of trees to make the news. I do not blame the media, I blame people who only get their news from one source or outlet. Watching or hearing or reading different views on a story gives you a well rounded informative opinion.

Medias don't make IEDs or run planes into buildings. CNN don't go around blowing up its reporters. Media might have changed, but criticism of media is even more out of control. I don't know why you think America believe the media whole heartedly when there have been some of biggest shifts away from mainstream to blogs and whatever and everybody now day is complaining about CNN, FOX or whatever. Doesn't look like America believe the media whole heartedly to me. If you don't like something don't blame the world's problem on it.

It is a persons responsibility to self educate as much as possible but we all know the average joe and josephine don't. The medias spin is a problem. I watch and read alot across the board but even comparing our story to BBC or other euro countries shows you alot. It just would be nice to have some pro- America, even if it is for individuals (who make this country great) and businesses and just a bit more "happiness" mixed in with the news. AND it would be nice to see and hear more news rather than the same stories over and over and over....AS for me. GOD BLESS AMERICA- we are still out here and working toward a better time for America--sounds corny but I do think its true.

I think you can only partly blame the media for people's relative lack of knowledge. In our busy lives, we do take our five second soundbites as 'gospel' and believe accordingly, but there are plenty of free-thinking and questioning folks out there too.
As you say, politics aside, the chance to access knowledge and different perspectives has never been greater, yet not everyone, for whatever reason, takes advantage of the access.
The fact that too many people misread spin for news is not necessarily the media's fault 100%; there are always alternative interpretations of the same event, speech, whatever. The fact that we don't try to find out, when it's never been easier is just plain dumb!

I agree totally, especially the damage they do to the poor. The media opposes capitalism and the free market and prefers the government solution to any problems. The only problem is capitalism is the answer to the poor earning and developing skills to serve others that results in their personal growth and long term success. Hand outs from the government create a sense of dependency and laziness among people The media is helping to create a culture of entitlement and victimhood in American and are pulling us toward the model of France asap, a place that has a stagnant economy, a deficit 10x ours (vs gdp), high unemployement and a high suicide rate, not to mention riots in their slums recently. What a great place the media is leading us to! So you are exactly right. Too bad most people seem to agree with media and long for a Socialist US.

Yes, the media controls all four branches of government and has for the last 12 years, the media has run up huge budget deficits, the media has a vast army that they used to invade a defenseless nation that was not a threat to anyone and the media has orbiting mind control lasers that they are using to drive you insane.
Any other questions?

Media? depends on which one. Fox news Conservative slant. CBS liberal view. Radio for the most part Conservative newspapers for the most part Liberal. Depending on which view you hold holy then you judge what is against your point a view as being WRONG. Years ago I thought being against the Vietnam war as wrong - Today I believe I was proved WRONG. Our enemies of decades ago are today's allies. You want piece get off oil. You want good medical care for all? look at what Wal-mart maybe starting. Your views are based on input - listen to as much diversified in put as possible. Look outside normal channels - even bias reporting gives one a full spectrum on multi positions.

It is not the media's fault so much as it is a naive public. Before TV, if it were in print it must be true......even if it was printed in the Inquirer. People have a responsibility to seek out different sources of information and not just swallow what is spoonfed to them.

Don't blame the media. As their name implies, they are just the vehicle for the transmission of the message. Blame their corporate paymasters whom they must please it they want to get paid. Always follow the money.
Incidentally, media is plural. The singular is medium. Newspapers are one medium, TV is another, etc.
