Mount Baker Ski Area in Washington holds the record for the most snowfall in one season (1998-1999) with 1,140 inches. Another place in Washington, Paradise Ranger Station, averages about 680 inches of snow per year, which is a the most in the world. Silver Lake, Colorado holds the world record for most snow in a 24 hour period with 76 inches. The world's snowiest city is Valdez, Alaska which receives 326 inches of snow per year.

I would think the most snow occurs up by the South Pole. Winter is when it happens the most (but I have seen it snow in the fall and spring).

In the continental US? Probably in the volcanic mountain ranges, like Mt. Rainier.
