first question you should ask yourself is how far in this rebuild you actually want to do or go......replacing everything your going to need a complete overhaul kit (bearings, timing belt or chain, seals, gaskets, rings, and so forth. any bad parts expect to replace them. this process can do one of two things. save you money in the long run or cost you money right off the bat. i would personally ask myself how far i want to go in rebuilding this and is it worth it in a 10+ year old truck. email me if you have any questions or concerns about your rebuild.

Your going to need to find an engine re builder in your area. You will need them anyway to have the cylinder head rebuilt and the machine work done on the block, crankshaft and connecting rods. They are factory direct with most engine rebuild parts company and can give you a good price for your new internal engine parts. The machine shop will make up a machine package and engine parts kit for you. You can build it yourself or have them do it. You can ask me questions (I have lots of engine machine experience) there is a autopartswharehouse.com at my site too.

possibly no longer what you opt to hearken to, yet I rebuilt my final engine around 1990. It did no longer choose any paintings performed on the top (the previous proprietor had the valves and seats replaced whilst the air filter out ripped) and the crankshaft replaced into suitable; it basically mandatory to be bored and honed through fact of broken rings (detonation have been given them) and new pistons and rings to greater healthful. The oil pump replaced into in undesirable shape so I replaced that. all of it got here to $50 better than a replace short block, which might have had the favorite uninteresting (pre-compressed actual end) and honing, which might have extra yet another 100K miles of existence. the automobile had 190K miles already so as that did no longer depend, in spite of the shown fact that it replaced into fairly a take-heed call. i'm going to have saved money and had a greater suitable engine via going the pre-geared up path. it would quite have had a guarantee.
