adobe illustrator is the perfect program for logos. Infact that is what it is mainly used for. Photoshop is a good program but it's not for logo creation. It is for working with photographs mostly.

Adobe photoshop cs2 & 7, Corel draw 10-12, macromedia flash you can also...

for me in making logo or graphics software is only the 2nd factor you needed, the big factor you must have is you creativity, brilliant idea and heart to do

Honestly, MS Paint is the best. It lists standard colors which you can add to copyrighting easily. You can create in highest quality, then export it using tools like "IrfanView".
Why MSPaint? Why not Photoshop, ?
A Lot of people who do not have advance digital design qualifications will add effects or transparency, without realizing that it may not load correctly on certain systems. E.g. excessive tranparency, overlay etc. MS Paint is fail-safe method.
When you export u can select a transparency color from the tool you use to export.

adobe illustrator is the best - most user friendly on a mac. pc version is not as user friendly.
