Diarrhea in a rabbit isn't a sickness as much as it is a symptom of something else wrong.
It can be caused by an alteration in the normal bacteria flora in the intestinal tract.
Change in diet certainly isn't always the cause. Just an upset in the digestive system can because it from stress, temperature, antibiotics or some other underlying illness not detectable by other physical signs other than diarrhea.
It is VERY important to not let a rabbit dehydrate during this time. However, giving him water can continue to worsen the diarrhea.
You want to certainly discontinue any antibiotics being used. You will need to get the healthy bacteria in the digestive system flowing normal again.
Removing the water bowl for 24-hours is commonly done in order to start. Offering foods that will help to "dry" up the poops is the next step. Grass hay or oats are the common sources.
You may want to call a rabbit knowledge vet if things don't change right away. Don't hesitate, because this can cause a dehydrated bunny that will lead to death. The vet may need to administer fluid by I.V. if it comes to that stage, but of course you want to get it under control before that stage.

I've been raising and showing rabbits for over 24 years. Please listen to my advice:
1. Most importantly: DON'T TAKE YOUR RABBIT OFF IT'S WATER!! Give it plenty of water instead. Taking it off it's water will make it becomed dehydrated. Removing the water is a common mistake by most people. Diahrrea is a sign that your rabbit is losing a lot of water. That means it is even more important then that it gets plenty of water.
2. If you are feeding it vegetables, fruit, lettuce, grass, greens, etc, then stop right away doing that. They can cause diahrrea, especially if you give your rabbit too much.
3. Pull your rabbit off it's feed for 24 hours. The bacteria that normally causes it feeds off the food in the stomach.
4. After 24 hours feed a half ration of rabbit pellets or give a small handful of straw, orchard grass hay, or timothy hay.
5. After 48 hours, you should be able to go back to full feed if diahrrea appears cleared up.
6. Throw out moldy or musty smelling feed. Moldy feed can cause diahrrea.
7. Neomycin can be used to help treat the diahrrea (bacterial entertitis). Ask your vet.
8. It's a good idea to treat 2-3 times a year for coccidiosis with liquid amprolium since coccidiosis can cause diahrrea.
9. Keep the pen and water bowls clean. Clean water is one of the best preventatives against diahrrea.
10. You can disinfect your rabbits cage with bleach as an extra precaution.

diarrhea is VERY bad for rabbits- the way rabbits digest food is that they eat the diarrhea looking poop and the second time around it comes out as hard black pellets. If your rabbit has visible runny poop, it is basically starving right now, and you need to bring it to a vet ASAP. Something is wrong with it's digestive system. If you are feeding it iceberg lettuce as well, this can happen since iceberg lettuce is bad for rabbits (I know instances of them dying from eating too much of it) Romaine lettuce is ok and good for them.
Also- never stop giving an animal water- it will just dehydrate faster.

Take him to the vet immediately! Diarreah can be deadly for rabbits. It could be a bacteria inbalance in his intestine.

You have to take him to the vet. He's probably in pain. You can find a rabbit savvy vet at http://www.rabbit.org

Do you feed him lettuce or large amounts of carrots? Both of these can cause diarrhea. So can stress.
If neither of these apply, please look up a local vet clinic that welcomes the small & furry.
