well becasue the ps3 games are on a different disc type ( bluray) which wasnt aroudn when the ps2 came out, you wanna play ps3 games you need a ps3, thats why there called ps3 games, sorry, yes they are still makein ps2 games, and they should make new games for atleast a year

No, Playstation 2 has already been formatted for DVDs Playstation1 and 2 games as well as CDs. They can't make it so Playstation 3 works as well. However, Playstation 3 will play all of the above plus Blu-ray disc. Its a money making scheme really. Now there will be mass production of PS3 games (no longer PS2) so people will feel forced to buy PS3, if they want new games. Check out the site for more info.

If it was possible, it kind of defeats the purpose of making the PS3. If a PS3 game can be played on the PS2, why would it be called a PS3 game. Wouldn't it be called a PS2 game?
FYI: All PS3 games will be in Blu-ray, so unless you have a magic PS2 that can read Blu-ray disks, you can't play PS3 games on the PS2.
Yes, companies will continue to produce games for the PS2 because there's still a lot of people who don't have a PS3, but still have a PS2. Just don't expect a whole lot of PS2 games to be released.

Nope. why would newer games run on older hardware. you need the power of the PS3 to play PS3 games
