I wouldn't give her PLANE water but PLAIN water that has been boiled then cooled to body temp is fine.
PS don't cut back on her formula or breast milk. she must have milk. a little water as well as her usual feeding is okay

If you are breastfeeding her, she doesn't nee to drink anything else. Breast milk comes out in two stages: a fist clear liquid to calm down her thirst, and after few minutes, a thicker liquid that is the part of the milk that comes with the nutrients. If she is just thirsty she will be satisfied with a couple of minutes of breastfeeding.
If you are giving her formula, then you could give her boiled (10min even if it is bottled water) water between feedings, when you think she could be thirsty or you see signs like drooling allot, sucking hands/fingers (when she has eaten), or keeps her mouth open and/or stick her tongue out. Don't wait to see dryness in her mouth/lips, by then she could be dehydrated!
At that age, 1 ounce in the bottle should be more than enough, but allow her to drink only as much as she wants (that at that age usually it is what she needs)

When my first daughter was that I age, I started to give her filtered, boiled water in between feeds, because it was so hot. She was wanting to feed every 45 minutes, I believe it was because she was thirsty due to the heat. Giving her a little bit of water every now and then seemed to satisfy her. If it's not particularly hot where you live, though, there's really no need to give a baby that age water.

there's nothing wrong with giving her water. You can also put a little sugar in it if she is ever constipated it'll help her go. just make sure you don't use the water to supliment for her breastmilk or formula. And if you breastfeed just be careful to not give her a lot of bottles cause it can cause nipple confusion.

No water. At this age your child needs lots of formula or breast milk. Water is not suggested at this early age.

I know it's confusing. My doctor told me to give my newborn water as well. However, it seems that they don't need any additional liquids besides breast milk or formula. If you do give water, I was told it should be1/2 oz. Make sure it's not tap though. Try bottled water.

You should really consult your doctor about this. He/she would know best.
Never use plain/tap water. Use bottled water instead. Depending on where you are, it may be ok to boil it as well (of course, let it cool first). ⺠Check with your doctor though, just to be safe.
Congrats on your baby!âº
