According to the 2000 Census about 33% are Black/African American, American Indian or Alaska Native, Asian, Native Hawaiian or other Pacific Islander, and Hispanic. Of course these numbers are skewed because a lot of one specific group are undocumented and illegal .. I wont say what race they are but they are only included in the minority group because plenty are illegal thus they are not counted. If u think I'm lying...come to Texas.

The CIA factbook is a good place to get this information.

"white 81.7%, black 12.9%, Asian 4.2%, Amerindian and Alaska native 1%, native Hawaiian and other Pacific islander 0.2% (2003 est.)"

As for Los Angeles:
46.9% White
11.2% Black/African American
0.8% American Indian/Alaskan Native
10.0% Asian
0.2% Native Hawaiian/Pasific Islander
25.7% Said they were some other race.

Yes, the percentage of "people of color" (black, asian, latino etc) combined is already greater than the caucasian population, so whites are really the largest minority group.

It's not as big of a shift as people think- for many years (as recently as the early 90s) the census forms didn't have a category for hispanic, hispanics were simply counted as white. Now that the forms make this distinction, we get a clearer view of the actual numbers.

My guess, and this is completely shot from the hip, is that minorities constitute less than 50% of the population.
