i've never had a problem with 14 kt fading just make sure it is not 14kt plated 14 kt gold filled should be ok too

If it's real then it will last you almost forever. If it's fake though, it will fade until the fake gold rubs off. And don't worry, that's not a dumb question.

If it's real gold it shouldn't fade. I've never had it happen to me before and I wear my jewelery all the time.

all gold will fade if not cleaned regularly.... if the gold has rubbed off leaving another color underneath then the piece isn't solid gold only coated...
