You've never watched a dog when he/she's sleeping, have you? If their paws aren't twitching or they're not making some sort of noise, you can usually at least see their pupils moving beneath their eyelids. Same with cats. All creatures have the same basic sleep cycle, which includes the stage in which dreams occur.

Plus, we, as humans, are animals, so I'd say yes anyway.

Different animals sleep in different ways. Some animals, like humans, prefer to sleep in one long session. Other animals (dogs, for example) like to sleep in many short bursts. Some sleep at night, while others sleep during the day.

A dream is the experience of envisioned images, sounds, or other sensations during sleep. The events of dreams are often impossible or unlikely to occur in physical reality, and are usually outside the control of the dreamer. A dream is felt by the humans as they have 6th sense. Animals do not have the 6th sense.

So animals do not experince dreams. Even Chimpanzee which is supposed to be nearest to man also does not dream. -

Yes. It is actually believed that dreaming keeps us alive.
In (cruel) studies performed on cats, scientists somehow cut off the part of the brain that controls dreaming. When they were no longer able to dream, the cats ran around into walls and got into several other dangerous situations while they were asleep. Regardless of religious beliefs, an animal is a complex living being with a brain that requires dreams to exist healthily and remain still while sleeping.

Yes, apparently there's some evidence that they do dream. Here's the link to an article on a recent study conducted on sleeping rats at MIT:

Of course an animal can dream. It is a common function of any brain. Dreams are the result of the brain's work during our resting period. When we function in any way, the electrons in our brain continuously fire. Dreams are the result of the brain trying to make sense of these electron blasts.
