what is two bits worth? And is it one dollar or twenty five cents? or the making there of?

It comes from the old gold "pieces of eight", where a gold coin was cut into 8 pieces to make change. 2 of these pieces, "two bits", were 1/4 of the original whole coin.

a quarter......a boss of mine gave me a two bits/hr rate once when I was young I wondered what it was untill pay day.

usually 2 equals 2 or if its two bits, put it together it is 1 so i say one dollar.
