You can get fabric paint from the craft store. Or you can get a silk screen printer from the fabric store and it will look more professional. If you do some on line research then you can find directions to make one on your own.

You can buy paint that's made especially for fabric in the craft department of Walmart or at craft stores.

Before painting the clothing, WASH IT EVEN IF IT IS NEW. New clothing has "sizing" in it to make it look nicer when it's for sale. This "sizing" will keep the paint from staying on as well as it should. Do NOT use fabric softener. You want the fabric to be free of anything that could interfere with the paint adhering to it.

If you're painting something thin, like a t-shirt, put several layers of newspaper or a large piece of cardboard inside the shirt so the paint won't soak through to the back.

Depending on which type of fabric paint you use, there may be a waiting period before you can wash it. Some brands have you iron the fabric before washing, to help set the color. You'll want to read the paint package label carefully and follow what it says to do.

When I'm washing clothing that has been painted, I turn it inside out to prevent the design from rubbing against other things in the laundry. This helps the design last longer.

Have fun creating!!

you don't need to use fabric paint. Theres stuff called fabric fixative. You mix it into acrylic paint so it stays on the fabric. A jar will last you for ages and it works out a lot cheaper

One thing I done before on denim is tape off areas and spray paint them (regular spray paint). They turn out really cute and are not hard.

Another way is to add fabric medium to acrylic paints in order to paint on cloth.

go to a craft store or walmart and purchase pens that look like markers they are called painters they come in all colors if you are painting on light colored clothes get some black carbon paper, for dark clothes use white carbon paper, underneath the material place a piece of wood or something hard to bear down on, find a picture you want to use lay the carbon paper down on material first then the picture on top of carbon paper and tape on sides of pic. or hold in place firmly so the picture does not move while traceing the picture with an ink pen or pencil, lift pic. and carbon paper from material and paint in with painters pens, dont worry about excess blk. or wht. on rest of material because when your paint has dried for approx 48 hrs. then wash and pic. stays on but exess color from carbon copy washes out

Go to a fabric store...there are some great fabric paint and books of ideas. Try Michaels or Joanns.

At hobby stores or fabric stores, you can buy paint for your clothes. They also sell stencils and designs for you to use on your shirts.
