If you're shopping online- Newegg.com, they have great prices. Of course, Amazon and Ebay are always options.
Now forget the 6600 or 6800 Ultra, those are old cards...
Go for a GeForce 7900GT ($250 Canadian) or better yet, the 7950GT ($350) or for a less expensive option, maybe a 7600GT (around $150)
Among ATI cards, the X1900XTX is the best, but expensive (over $400), the X1800 (either XT or GTO) costs around $300, and for a bargain, consider the X1600XT (in the $150 range)

Well, when I bought my $600 ATI 1900 XTX card, I paid well under $500 :D (Sept pricing)
In any case, since I don't think you can convince my friend to buy you yours...you can do a search on Google.ca.
Assuming you are looking for "midlevel" cards, X1600 Pro, you can find for between $100-$120 (a local store here in Winnipeg is advertising for $109).
I found an eVGA GeForce 6800XT (128MB DDR3 PCI-Ex16 Graphics Card - DVI, Video-Out $139.84 ) in the same store (ITech Systems)
The store also had a BFG Tech GeForce 7800 GTX OC SLi (256MB PCI-Ex16 Graphics Card - 2xDVI, Video-In, Video-Out $515.84)
On the other side, it has a Sapphire Radeon X1600Pro (512MB DDR2 PCI-Ex16 Graphics Card - VGA, DVI, HDTV, Video-Out, Crossfire support $148.84), with the overclocked version $5 cheaper.
The newest, the Sapphire Radeon X1950XTX TOXIC (512MB DDR4 PCI-Ex16 Graphics Card - Dual DVI, HDTV, Video-In, Video-Out, Crossfire support $649.84) is also in.
Easiest way is to shop around. Newegg is supposed to be good an reliable.
Hope this helps.
