How can you stand playing video games all day, honestly. There is so much more to life.

You are right! I work in sales, am married with 2 children and spend time with them mostly, but like to play my RTS games at least for an hour every 2 days or so. I enjoy the strategy and multi player gaming and talking on Skype to my teammates in Europe. Right now, it's Company of Heroes.
I don't consider myself a Video Game Nerd although my friends who are not into this stuff try to make the case that I am one sometimes.
I have one curious question: It seems most of your Q & A are oriented toward gaming and that you are an audio/video/gaming/console/PC enthusuast! Are You?
If so, are you just asking gamers that play for hours every day to consider toning it down? Not a bad idea. Back in the day, I remember days and nights morphing into nothingness as I sat in front of my computer with plates, beer and soda bottles, I would run between games to the bathroom and outside on the deck to have a smoke. The good ol' days. I can't say they did me much good.

Just because you don't like to play video games as much as someone else, doesn't mean you have to call people that do nerds. Maybe the one thing that the person likes to do is play video games all day. And you know what, that's their prerogative. I am one of those "nerds" you speak of. I work full-time and I like to come home and spend hours on my 360 relieving stress. You can get lost in a world void of worrying about paying bills on time, relationship/family problems, and anything else that might be on your mind.

no not a nerd just dont have much energy for anything else i work all day as a auto mechanic at night im a wrecker driver and i have a girlfriend who likes video games and she in college but on the weekend i travel to movies malls bowling alleys or just go riding around

ive got a life but i also like to play games like katamari damacy i only play video games that you will never do in your life. For example why do people buy sport games they can just go to the store buy a basketball or whatever and go and play it.

I think of my self as an online gamer but i don't spend all my free time online, i go to the clubs, drink beer and whiskey, smoke cigars, go snowmobiling, set up bon fire parties, the fact that i love online games means nothing these days, by putting every gamer into the same category your stereo typing everyone.

I am and I get a thrill out of showing others up. Besting people is a great feeling. Like any sport I must practice, so I play for I dunno like half the day or maybe the whole day. I do it because I suck at regular sports.
