The Widow of the South by Robert Hicks

This is historical fiction based on true events. I loved this book so much. It is about the civil war and events that are sparked by the battle near Franklin, TN. This was thought to be the bloodiest battle of the war. I couldn't put this book down. It probably isn't romantic in the way that you are looking for. There is an element of romance but the war and the aftermath of this particular battle and how the characters deal with it is the main focus of the story.

I read this earlier in the year and it has become one of my favorite books.

Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. The author has a strange kind of witty humour that any one can enjoy. If you have'nt read it, pls. do so. I promise, this book is different from other books.

"Strange Attractions" by Emma Holly. Mind you, it falls more under the category of 'erotic romance', but it's one of my favorite books for that sort of thing, since I'm pretty adverse to most renderings of romance that I see in literature. But Holly manages to capture the best and sweetest things about Eric and B.G. and beautifully depict Charity without making her seem like a flimsy damsel in distress. Very romantic, very hot stuff.
