I have a friend whose parents are giving her an older pathfinder. She is unsure of the condition and is scared to drive it back home. Her parents live in alexandria, Va and she lives in Nashville, TN. What is the cheapest way to get the car down here? Renting a truck and car trailor? What other companies besides uhaul rents these?

Why not have a reliable mechanic go over the SUV before she drives it? Why spend money that you don't need to? Why would her parents give her an unsafe car? Nissans are very reliable.

The best way to go is drive it home if she won't get someone who will and she can drive a chase car behind it in case it breaks down. I am sure it will make it if her parents are giving it to her.

Go to EBAY and bid on auto transport. Many independent auto transporters/trucks have open slots on the trucks and you can bid on a spot. They will deliver to your door.
