Currently there is no telescope in existence with the resolution to see something as small as the American Flag, the lunar rover, a human being, or even the LEM on the surface of the moon.

The Hubble telescope is the best we have, with a resolution of 0.1 arc-second -- and that would record on a single pixel in the CCD cameras used to record the image. At roughly ¼ million miles away, that translates into a pixel spot about 50 feet in diameter. And how big is the average human when seen from above? Certainly much less than 50 feet!

The Mars Exploration Rovers (Spirit and danger) can photograph information as small as a 10th of a millimeter on the exterior of Mars. of course, they're on Mars. The Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter (MRO) can photograph information as small as a pair of one million/2 meter from orbit. it extremely is in Mars orbit. extremely, it extremely is a undercover agent telescope in Mars orbit. those do lots, lots extra suitable than the Hubble area Telescope for Mars. The HST has a number of the suitable decision of any telescope ever geared up. the twin Keck telescopes, the quad VLT telescopes, the huge Binocular Telescope are a number of the huge instruments in the international. yet Very long Baseline Interferometry does rather properly with decision interior the radio spectrum. Mars is tiny while in comparison with galaxies. it extremely is approximately 0 mild years throughout. Our galaxy is one hundred,000 mild years throughout. it extremely is how distant galaxies would properly be imaged so properly. My ten inch (254 mm) telescope would in good shape on your balcony. it extremely is at the instant around $seven hundred US ($839 AUD). you're unlikely to be able to make sure Apollo hardware on the Moon with it. at the instant no scope in the international can do this. yet, low magnification or intense, the photos are sharp. you're able to probably get your self to an astronomy club, and look at scopes of different sizes. i like my 10 inch in simple terms effective. yet i've got regarded by way of 4 inch (one hundred mm) and 22 inch (558 mm) scopes too. So now i've got have been given some thought what to assume.

Your right, the only bad question is the one never asked. Fact is not only are there telescopes that can see anything on the moon if they were there, example there are no people to see right now but there is the landing section of Apollo 13 left behind when the module blasted off back to earth, and the lunar rover is still there along with the American flag, and somewhere on the surface of the moon, a golf ball waits to be found. But also we have cameras which if aimed at the moon can probably take a picture of that golf ball. Not to mention the Hubble space telescope that takes pictures of far off galaxies. Believe it or not the moon is too close to look at for the Hubble>OoO<

No, it couldn't. The telescope with the highest resolution when pointed at the moon would be Hubble, and it could only see things on the scale of a football field.

No, you would need about a 70 meter telescope to see the ship and an even bigger one to see people at that distance. Plus atmospheric turbulence makes it impossible to see anywhere near that level of detail without special adaptive optics techniques.

Bottom line, if the Hubble Space Telescope were 10 times larger than it is, you'd be able to see something. But, then it would never have fit into the Space Shuttle payload bay or any other rocket we have.

No. People are too small and the Moon too far away.
