I forgot whether my teacher said it was safe for just dishwasher or whether it's microwave safe too.
We used a high-fire clay, and heated at temperatures that the teacher said would've ruined the Raku glazes...that's pretty much all the info I can remember. I was going to give my Grandma a mug for Christmas, but it just occured to me she makes instant coffee by heating it in the microwave.

If your mug has been raku fired then no you can not put it in the dishwasher or microwave. But if you have a lead safe, high fired cone 10 and cone 5, but cone 10 if your going to cook in it. If you don't glaze the food surface bacteria will get in the pores of the clay. Even though you say you used a high fire clay, the question is, how high did you fire the mug? Cone 10? Cone 5? With the glaze inside the mug? So you really do need to ask your teacher again specific questions. To make sure your mug is safe.

Most ceramics I've used seem to be safe in the microwave, but not if they have gold/silver paint etc. although I have found some of them to get quite hot, too hot to handle, so I would test it out, before you give it to someone, or try it out if you are there when you give it.

most of them are miro. safe and I am pretty sure yours is too If it is dishwashers safe then of course it is safe because it has to go through about the same thing or it will start a fire.

When in doubt, don't do it. Just tell your grandma she can't use it in the microwave. Be safe.
