Maybe you should pose that question of the families who have lost loved ones that have died to protect our freedoms. Freedom isn't free because sacrifices must be made to keep it.

Because freedom by it's nature requires that one always be willing to pay the obligations and risks of freedom.
You cannot make another person free, they must make themselves free even free of the shackles of irons you can still be imprisoned.

In order to maintain a free society, those in it must be willing to defend that freedom from those inside or outside who want to grab power over it. If you're not willing to defend it you won't have it for long.

freedom DEFINATELY IS NOT FREE. it has to be fought over to win. just look up the American Revolutionary War. we lost lives to win our freedom. therefore, the cost is people's lives and loved ones.

There are many reasons, but one in particular...
We have thousands of US. soldiers dying everyday in Iraq... and for what? The freedom for another country. Unless it's some other reason our dumbass president wants to give us. But anyway, another reason is because it seems as if you have to earn freedom, or give something up in order to obtain it... it's a struggle, no matter what naive person may say.
