I close it unless the cat wants to come in then i close it after she comes in. If I am alone, I leave it open.

Leave it open. It drives the cats crazy if I close it.
They cry, and tug the door against the doorframe to be let in.
Much simpler just to let them in.
They play in the bathtub, lay in the sink, yank the toilet paper off the roll, etc :-))
They have to follow me everywhere.

I leave it open. If I close it someone in my household is going to open it anyway.
