Not only is it appropriate, it is a very smart thing to do from a business standpoint. This is good thinking on your part. It NEVER hurts to be on friendly terms with your ex-employers. In the card, make sure you are friendly and tell them you are glad they are doing well. Be upbeat and friendly. Remember that in today's economy, your ex-employer might down the road end up becoming your current employer. So network and continue to stay in contact with as many people as possible. And a holiday card is a perfect way to do that.

That is a strange thing to do. If you want to maintain contacts, you are better off emailing a specific person and just sending them a short email. If you really want to, you can send one, but there are probably other things you can do that would help more.

I don 't know....did you leave on good terms?...it is always good not to burn your bridges...you never know when you might need to go back across.
