That would be cool, then they could tell us why they throw poop at us when we visit them at the zoo.

I hate to break it to you, but chimps and monkeys cannot talk. Why? Because their vocal cords are not developed to the point where they can create complex sounds, like words. There was an interesting experiment in the 50s (forgot the name) that put chimpanzees in different families to see if they could talk and be human. Unfortunately, they were not smart enough, the chimp's vocal cord were incapable anyway, and the toddlers in the families learned bad manners from the primate.

As for the implications, it wouldn't be just humans dominating the world. If monkeys could be smart enough and talk, the other great apes could potentially overwhelm us. Not only that, but the meat industry would suffer because people would believe that animals can be human, and would, by a large majority, be vegetarian or vegan as a result. Wouldn't you, if animals could talk?

I think you meant, "monkeys". Otherwise, you're talking about a band. In which case, the Monkies can already talk.

Getting at your actual question, I'm sure the religious nuts would find some way to continue to deny evolution and our being primates.

You will find monkies be one of the most popular pets. It may replace dog to man's best friends.

Hypothetical questions lead to even more hypothetical questions:

What if all life (plant and animal life) could communicate with humans? How would we justify eating anything? Would we respect their opinions? Would we treat them as equals? Would their intellect be honored? Would we still be superior?

It wouldn't be nearly as cool as if foxes could talk. Now THAT would be cool to the nth degree.
