Maybe yahoo or ggogle 40's comics and the war effort

you might also try to look up the history of (walt) DISNEY studios -since they made many many war films for newsreel and other shorts shown at movie theatres.

Look for WW2 propaganda... There are tons of propaganda posters... Is that what you meant by comics?
