You can find PC games for free at several places on the web. I'm going to assume your looking for free and legal games so heres where to look:
1) http://www.the-underdogs.info
This one contains tons of older PC games (going up to around 2005) where the copy-writes have expired or the manufacturer no longer profits from the games sale. A great resource for finding tons of old favorites and newer games. Surprisingly many of them are tons of fun.
2) http://www.liberatedgames.com/
A place to download the source for games that have had their copy-writes expire. Lots of gems here to download and play as well.
3)http://megagames.com/news/html/freegames/freegames.shtml
This is a huge directory of games that were made by amateur developers and are completely free to play and distribute to your friends. They are not small demos that try to get you to buy full versions either, they are actual complete games. I've found many awesome games on here
