Hamsters pack their cheeks. Sometimes their pouches get impacted and they need help removing all the food they stored in there too tightly for too long. Sometimes the pouches can actually get infected. This might be what's happened here.

If you're mom was not willing to take this hamster to the vet if anything should happen to it then she should not have allowed you to get the hamster. All animals should have the right to a good vet when a medical problem arises. To not provide vet care is illegal whether it a horse, dog or hamster.

You're on here trying to do the next best thing. I commend you for that... :-) Maybe I can give you some ideas. If it really is an infection only a vet can help. The antibiotics are usually very inexpensive and a vet visit usually only costs between $25 - $45. It sounds like a lot, but your hammie could be in a lot of pain and if the infection gets into it's system it will die. Beg your mom. Offer to do extra chores. Tell her it's what you want for Christmas. Sell a few of your personal belongings. There are ways to get your hammie to the vet. Owning pets requires a lot of personal sacrifice at times. It's what separates the true animal lovers from the ones who just say they love animals.

I wish you a ton of luck and hope your hamster gets better soon...:-)

Okay, first of all, it is spelled Syrian, and THEY ARE SOLITARY HAMSTERS, WHICH MEANS THEY WILL KILL EACH OTHER IS KEPT IN THE SAME CAGE. You have to separate them now earlier than one or either one of them finally end up lifeless. I'm no longer certain precisely what your query is. You wish to grasp if you'll be able to attach yet another cage to the tank utilizing tubes? Yes, you'll be able to. Please get yet another cage and separate the hamsters now! Edit: Rustyredwhatever is mistaken. It does not subject in the event that they had been siblings and had been in no way aside, after they achieve adulthood, they are going to grow to be very territorial among each and every different and they are going to battle to the loss of life, regardless of how a lot room you deliver them. You have to separate them earlier than they start to battle. Look it up, any well hamster internet site will let you know the identical factor: Syrian hamsters are solitary and have to be saved one to a cage.

It's probably its food pouch. If it is, you have nothing to worry about. If it's not, take it to a vet or Pet Store, it's cheap, not expensive except for surgery. But I don't think you need surgery for a hamster.

Its probably its food pouch. Hampsters stores large amounts of food on the side of their mouths. Is your hampster in pain? Did you try to run the affected area to loosen the food? How long has your lil hampster been this way?
