Okay, here it is. When the 6th book first came out I of course read it. When I was finished I started thinking about what I had read (which is obviously something people do after reading a book). You know at the end, when Dumbledore has died and Harry opens the horcrux and there is a note in it from R.B? Well, the only person I could think of with those initials was Sirius's brother Regulus (I don't know if that is spelled correctly) Black. Then I remembered in the 5th book, when the Weasley's and Harry and Sirius were cleaning the Order of the Phoenix how they found a locket that nobody could open.......do you think that it is the real horcrux?

Sorry if this is old news and somebody has already thought of it.......

I have read all the books a few times, but to tell you the truth I have never read anything about what JK Rowling has said or visited any of the other sites...that's why I didn't really know if this topic has already been discussed. Thanks for the answers!

Yes, he said there were seven. I was saying is that the real horcrux...opposed to the fake on Harry had in his hand.

I know there is 7....one of them being Voldemort himself.

sorry, not "....on Harry had in...." but "....one Harry had in..."

Yeah this has been thought about for ages and all the Harry Potter diehards (including me!!!:D) have been speculating.
We figured out that in the German version of Half-Blood Prince the letters are R.A.S instead of R.A.B, in German the word for black starts with an S; this is also the case in a few other languages, so it's probably very likely that Regules is R.A.B
We also talked about that theory that the ‘large, old locket’ found at Sirius’ house is probably the real locket considering the locket that Harry now has is a fake.
JK refused to confirm tat R.A.B is Regules Black (whose middle name starts with A) but then again she didn’t say that he wasn’t either, like you guys said, she just laughed!
I personally think that R.A.B is Regules Black and that the locket in Sirius’ old house is the locket which contains part of Voldemort’s soul, think abut it Harry has held the locket so he has held a part of Voldemort’s own soul!!!

I just gotta say a couple of things.
FIRST
There are allegedly 6 horcruxes in total not 7. You guys are making the same mistake Harry made. It's a Seven part soul; 6 horcruxes with the last bit of soul being inside of Voldie.

SECOND
It's R.A.B. Not R.B. That's been buggin the heck outta me. Get it right or don't get it. Regulus Black is the most likely candidate since I personally can't remember any other characters with those initials. J.K. said that Regulus was a very good guess but wouldn't confirm or deny that he's actually R.A.B.

I think you're theory about the locket in OotP being the real horcrux is very plausible. If Regulus is R.A.B. then chances are he might hide the locket in his mother's house.

When I finished Half-Blood Prince, I was surprised that many Potter fans thought of Regulus as the now infamous R.A.B. I didn't even think of him when Harry read the note!

Course the only one who actually knows is Jo. But it is very possible for Regulus to have switched sides suddenly in the end, perhaps discovering Voldemort's secret. As for the locket that they found in Grimmauld Place, the one that couldn't be open... I really hope that Mundungus (sp?) didn't sell it. Remember, Harry caught him with a suitcase full of Sirius' possessions.

I have to say i did the same as u and that was what i concluded- that locket might of been the real horcrux and you know Regulus died? That was probably why he died- because he stole the real horcrux and wouldn't give it to voldemort. Another theory is that Regulus figured out that voldemort had split his souls and voldemort killed him to stop him from spreading the word

That's a very interesting question...
I never made that connection but now that you point it out, it's very possible that it could be. There is something about the locket and Regulus in the new Mugglenet book "What Wil Happen in Book 7?" but I haven't gotten a chance to read it yet. You might want to ask around (or get the book) and investigate further.

Yup, u r right. That's what came 2 my mind when i finished reading the book. It fits. Regulus was a deatheater and was killed by voldrmort personally. It is possible that he found about the horcruxes and panicked at what voldemort asked him to do in order to keep his silence.

You know I can't remember about the locket. But I think Dumbledore is dead but not really. Think about the black hand ....think about what the horcrux can do....then think if Dumbledore had to leave a piece behind to remain. Make them look left and go right?

You name your self a fan and you have not learn the books?! Oh good, I'll forgive you.... You'll have sufficient time to learn the sequence earlier than HPATDHP2 IF you are a quick reader and also you begin studying ASAP!!! If now not, you might constantly simply pass see the film and browse the entire books after.... Or learn the books and notice the film, whichever is less difficult

I didn't remember that. Good catch! I can say that JKR has said in interviews that she's not telling who RB is, but that everyone thinks it's Regulus and that makes her laugh. She did say that it was someone we know from the books, but might not remember.
I think it's very possible it wasn't the real horcrux, but we won't know for at least another year!

You know, you might be on to something there. That would be an awesome twist in the book. I myself think Harry is a horcrux.
