Not entirely positive. Depends on what you actually got from the book...The author could've written it and meant for you to take away the theme of life and enjoying what you have, or something more complex...Who knows. But readers generally, for them to 'take something away with them', relate it to something in their life. If you didn't like the book you may not relate it to anything and my not take anything away from it. Different people think different things. If this is for a class discussion, I might mention what I said and try to bullsh*t your way out.

I might have been able to give you a straight forward answer had I actually read the book all the way through, for summer reading.

Hope you find the right answer. ^^ Good luck.

I think he wanted to tell a story about the rolestory-telling. Pi tells his story twice, the first time as a harrowing, fantastical tale of survival against overwhelming odds, and the second time grudgingly in much more brutal and prosaic terms.

Which of these stories is true? And are there times when the truth is so sad and overwhelming that it's better to accept a pleasant fiction instead?

I can not speak for this author, or any other author for that matter.

What an author says in a book is usually what he means.

Actually, it's not a matter of what we, the readers, think the author
meant, it's what we do get out of it. Never make the mistake of
saying "this is what the author meant", 'cause it just ain't so.

MERRY CHRISTMAS and have a nice day.

Thank you very much, while you're up!
