I've have really acne prone skin, but my parents keep telling me that they had the same type of skin when they were younger and that I shouldn't worry because like them my skin will eventually clear up. should I be worried?

When you go through puberty, your sebaceous glands go into sort of an overdrive. Basically, they produce more oil, this causes your pores to get clogged, infected, then you see the pimple. Most people do grow out of it and even though it is not a guarantee, it is very likely that you will grow out of it as well. In the mean time use a face wash with salicylic acid to clear up your skin a little bit. I really like Noxzema triple clean.

Good luck.

No, it does not go away just because you get older. You can easily have acne well into your forties if you do not treat the underlying problems.

What does happen when you get older is you finally break down and go to the dermatologist like you should have at age 13. Then you get mad at your parents because they didn't take you before you got all the extra acne scarring.

If you are a teenager, its usually a hormone issue, so as soon as you finish growing up surely your skin will begin to clear up. Don't worry, clean your face at night and after excercising or sweating, use Oxy10 at least 3 times a day on the pimples and Biore Deep Pore Cleaner 3 times a week. Also, don't stay up late, really, not getting your good nights sleep might be bad for breakouts, also, change your pillow covers EVERY DAY, don't touch or pop your pimples EVER, even if it seems tempting, and let me tell you, nobody notices your breakouts as much as you do, their not as bad as you think they are.

Good luck and try not to stress!

Your best bet is to go to a dermatologist. My co-worker is 43 and she still gets really bad acne. It's really not a clear cut answer. It depends on your skin, family history and external factors such as the environment you live in/stress/lifestyle etc. You should really check with a dermatologist if it's really bad. Hope this helps!

Yes. Acne is caused by bacteria, oil underneath your skin. When you are a teenager, you have more hormones which makes your skin more oily, causing acne. Don't be worried you'll get better.

Most people stop getting acne as they get older, not everyone does. My mom is 44 years old and still gets a zit every once in a while.

I'm prettu sure it does. My mom had the same problem when she was younger but now her skin is perfectly clear. She dosen;t have a single pimple or blemish. If you have scarring though, you should start treating it now, since scarring can stay on your face.

depends on heredity, look at your parents...

my dad is in his 60's and has really bad acne
luckily i have my moms skin (somewhat)

adult acne ~ accutane is a good solution if you are not prone to depression.

There are many cheap and effective home remedies for acne. Tomato slices, turmeric, papaya juices and home made face packs will treat existing pimples and prevent further problems. More remedies at http://www.wellnesstalk.org/acne.html

If your genes are any indication, you should not be concerned. I on the other hand am now fighting acne and wrinkles at the same time. Life is not fair.
