If the current warming trends continue in the Arctic, the region may have ice-free summers within 100 years, a new report concludes.

The ice floats on the Arctic Ocean. If it melted global sea level would not be affected beacuse ice that floats in the water displaces its own volume. So there is no possibility of flooding due to ice melting near north pole

The Earth dos not contain enough water to completely flood the Earth.Majority of the ice on the polar ice caps is floating on sea water. It has already displeased the water as far as its mas.For an example, if you pout ice in a glass of water and wate for the ice to melt the glass dos not overflow from the melted ice.

The process is already underway, observable & measurable: places where pack ice once covered are now open ocean.

One of the interesting changes to global commerce will involve the development of new, shorter trans-arctic shipping routes between US, Russia, Canada, Norway, etc. where once there were ice fields now there will be open ocean all the way across the pole.

;-)

Regardless of global warming, sea levels have bene rising ever since th epeak of the last Ice Age and will continue to rise.

PS: Volcanoes mostly spew out sulfer. These act as aerosols, attracting water vapor and cause an effect called "global dimming" (as well as acidic rain). That means they lower surface and atmospheric temperatures. Comparing volcanoes to cars is foolish.

it quite is a lie. He got here upon a ineffective polar undergo floating interior the water and he controlled to climb on actual of it. he's now utilising his palms as paddles to row back to the ice-sheets. because those have gotten smaller notably (Santa has no thought why), Christmas this year may be a splash later.

No matter what Algore says, I doubt it.
The world had hot/cold cycles well before cars & power plants were invented.
Was that caused by dinosaur farts?
One volcanic eruption can spew as many pollutants in an hour as all the cars & trucks in the world do in 10 years.
What makes us so arrogant to think what we do has as much impact as the alarmists claim?

The people talking about it were probably referring to this article: http://technology.sympatico.msn.cbc.ca/Arctic+ice+could+disappear+in+summer+by+2040+study/NewsandTrends/ContentPosting.aspx?isfa=1&newsitemid=arctic-greenhouse&feedname=CBC-TECH-SCIENCE&show=False&number=0&showbyline=True&subtitle=&detect=&abc=abc
It does present a pretty convincing argument.
