I had a previous question about belly straps. Some people said that its good not to use them very often because it may be more likely for a c-section. I don't know why, but my doctor said every appointment from now on, they will be putting the belly strap on me for approximately 5 minutes. I was wondering if this would be more likely for me to have a C-Section, then. Also, correct me if I'm wrong: The belly straps aren't uncomfortable. One goes below you're belly [like the overhang or viseversa] for contractions, and one goes on top of your belly [for the heartrate or viseversa]

Thank you again!!!

i had one the other week, they called it a ctg, it has 2 monitoring points that sit on your belly, 1 moniterd bubs heartbeat, they left it on for 30-40 mins, cause bubs hadnt been moving much in the last 2 days, the other one moniterd contractions, but beacuse i wasnt in labour it showed nothing. It has NOTHING to do with c-sections at all, unless there is something wrong with bubs heartbeat and they need to get bubs out of there asap, thats all the relation it has to a c-section.it doesnt cause you to have one! so there is nothing wrong with having a 'belly strap' Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy!

I agree with craftyjem....i imagine the dr. just wants to monitor the baby more closely. Everything is probably normal. Don't worry about a c-section. I don't understand how they belly straps could cause a c-section. They only monitor the baby. Just ask your Dr. And no THEY'RE not uncomfortable, but you can't move around a lot while you're being monitored. So that can be uncomfortable.

omg, who told you it would cause a c-section? both my children were born naturally and without any complications (and rather quickly too) and i had to use belly straps towards the end. they are just moniters and don't actually DO anything to you or the baby, except moniter. c-sections are determined by several other factors, like placenta previa (placenta covering the cervix), or hips to small to deliver a baby, or baby in the wrong position, or how long you've been in labor/pushing (there is a limit as to how long they'll let you go). being monitered has nothing to do with causing this.

it just sounds to me like your doctor wants to keep a good eye on what's going on. sometimes things can change quickly especially in the last weeks of pregnancy, I wouldn't worry about a c-section unless the doctor mentions one

I personally have never heard of them causing c-sections, I really don't even see how it would be possible!
They were used on me the last few months of pregnancy and my daughter came out vaginal and healthy!!!
