Do you do the one christmas eve present, or is there a tradition that you do every year that you consider unique?

Yes:
- when decorating the tree, the star goes on LAST and with EVERYONE who helped decorating watching it
- xmas dinner on xmas eve at 6pm, then presents (well, depending on the childrens age this is getting swapped sometimes)
- xmas day: left overs, tv, trying out/on new presents
- 2nd xmas day: more tv, chocolates... (yes, familiy is included in all this too)

I let the kids open one present on Christmas eve, but the fam started a new tradition a few years ago. We go out and get a Christmas tree ornament that represents us or something that we went through that in itself represents us and wrap it up. Then at the end of the evening, we put all the wrapped ornaments in a pile on the floor and we all take one and open it. We all go around the room one at a time, and find out whose ornament we have and that person explains the symbolism of the ornament. Then for the next year, the reciever of the ornament prays specifically for that person! It's kinda cool, and we get a new decoration for the tree the next year. Have a cool yule!

Oh yea...teenager just reminded me of the midnight sledding. Last year we took all the kids sledding at a local hill. This year should be interesting...no snow. So I guess we'll be loading up the creepers at midnight....

My holiday tradition is having a big party with fondues, treats and much more. Most of the time we play holiday games, or if you like to sing we sing carols! We open up only 1 present christmas eve night, and the presents are pajamas.

We started doing the open one present on christmas eve a couple years ago with my husband.

We drive around to look at christmas lights.

We watch the 24 hour "Christmas Story" movie

My family does the "one present on Xmas eve" thing. As for other possibly "unique" traditions, I can't think of any that are particularly important or outstanding.

We have a cheese fondue - it is traditional in our family; since we first served it as a wedding eve supper for my son and his wife six years ago when they married. The sort of eloped but we knew they were doing it and we made an nice feast for them when they got back from the Wedding Chapel in Galveston on the beach.

1- Every year my kids get a ornament from me and I write their name and the year so when they are older they will not have a bald tree for their first tree.

2-Watch certain christmas movies

3-Drive around and look at christmas lights

4- Paint christmas ornaments

one, and that is plenty. of course traditions depend on your locations -- physical and geographical and weather-wise too. you can not go swimming if you live in eastern Canada. snow is "DE rigueur". unique tradition -- good question -- every year it is a surprise and it is different. have a happy festive season.
