I had gotten this new bunny rabbit. Her name is Rosie, actually it's my very first one. I have had no experience in rabbits what so ever but, she seems to be showing some unusual and inappropriate behavior. I am pretty sure it's a girl, my mum checked several times. Well, anyway either when I am on the floor with her or on my bed she crawls on me, digs her nails into my arm and bits me as she rapidly humps me. Please no laughing. I tell her stop and make sure she does but, this continues. I would like to know is this normal and what should I do about this?

I'm interested to know how old she is. Some does (female rabbits) will do that and act like a male trying to breed a female. Female rabbits normally go through different hormonal periods especially when they are 4-6 months old. It's basically a female rabbit's way of saying "I want bred." That age is puberty to them. A doe may do that even if she is over that age just due to hormones.

Many people do tend to sex rabbits wrong though and it could possibly be a male. They don't have to be 6 months old though to check the sex.

Below is a website with some good illustrations regarding sexing rabbits. I recommend using the pictures from the oldest rabbits in their illustration as a guide. They show a better difference in shape that you'll see.

This is normal rabbit behavior. Your pet is trying to establish a dominant role in its relationship with you. Just because the behavior is normal, though, does not mean it should be tolerated. You are the boss of the bunny, not the other way around. When that happens, say no sternly and put the rabbit back in its cage for a while.

First...you can't tell whether or not it's a boy or girl for the first few months because the scrotum of a male could not drop until 6 months.

Second...call a vet and ask. Be sure they are specialized for rabbits.

Third...go to www.rabbit.org and read everything you can about your new bunny. When I brought home my first bunny I learned everything from this site. It's amazing.

Good Luck and Congrats on the addition to your family!

Out of the various books I even have learn rabbit behaviour, the final public see this as a sort of relationship behaviour, especially so if he runs around you in a circle. My oldest rabbit does the comparable together with his 'puppy sock'. He loves this little purple puppy sock produced from fabric he can p.c.. up and it has a squeaker interior. (He in no way chews it, basically contains it around and sleeps with it.) basically presently as quickly as we've been given a clean infant bunny, the recent one reported my older one working around together with his sock and proceeded to stick to him. He stopped for a jiffy, ran over and stole a hair scrunchie and then ran back to the oldest bunny copying his behaviour. i ought to admit they appeared hilarious. Sounds to me like your bunny is fairly satisfied and gentle sufficient to have the potential to play in this type.

first how old is it? cause I got my bunny very young and we thought it was a girl..but my bad it wasn't anyway.. he has only done that once but I had had him for over a year.. some times if they are fixed (you see this in dogs mostly but) boy or girl they will do their "thing" maybe because they are lonely or they are getting back at you for fixing them..but if its young wait a couple of months, keep discouraging this behavior and see if it turns out to be a boy.

best of luck!

WELL I'M A RABBIT OWNER AND I KNOW THAT YOUR BUNNY RABBIT IS NOT A GIRL BUT A BOY. I KNOW THIS BECAUSE MY MALE RABBIT ALWAYS HUMPS MY FEMALE RABBIT. WELL ANYWAY IT'S NORMAL BUNNY RABBIT BEHAVIOR. JUST PUSHES HIM OFF OF YOU WHEN HE DOES THIS. OR GET HIS EARS AND/OR MOVE HIM AWAY. I KNOW IT SEEMS CRUEL BUT THAT IS WHAT MY LOCAL PET SHOP OWNER SAID TO DO. GOOD LUCK

P.S. CHANGE ITS NAME TO A BOY ONE LIKE IF IT'S CHUBBY NAME HIM "CHUB-BUS" THAT'S WHAT I NAMED MY MALE RABBIT AND I NAMED MY FEMALE RABBIT "PRINCESS." THIS IS A SUGGESTION BUT IF YOU DON'T LIKE THE NAME I SUGGESTED, NAME HIM SOMETHING YOU LIKE.

Maybe its cause she came to a new place which is your home, and saw new people like you. SOme rabbits may tend to get back if new people get too close to them, they may feel attacked, therefore they attack back, give the rabbit a few days and things may go smoothly.
