Personally I would suggest something else to check for viruses in your system, like a hijackthis log or another free scanners that removes viruses.

Anyway here's some link that might help you with your Norman virus control.

Dump Norman and get Nod32 or Kaspersky. Nod is a little hard to figure out but offers the best protection. Make sure whatever you use has automatic updates and it's enabled. Check to see if it has an automated scan (most do) and set it run at least once a week while you sleep or are at work. AV scans can take a while especially on large drives though it's the amount of data to be scanned that matters. Then follow the list below:

1st-Make sure to get all Windows updates DLed and installed.
2nd-Go to BitDefender.com for a free virus scan. TrendMicro now charges to clean.
3rd-Download, install, and update Ad-Aware (free). Do a full system scan and delete the crap it finds.
4th-Download, install, and update SpyBot Search & Destroy (free). Do a full system scan and delete the crap it finds.

If you dont have a firewall, GET ONE. ZoneAlarm has a free version.
Both AVG and Avast have a free anti-virus but I recommend Nod32. It's the best available and it's not very expensive (about $40 US.) Install, update and do a full system scan at least weekly.
Nod has autoupdates and scheduled scanning as does Kaspersky and most others. This is a spot that free AVs tend to skimp.
If this doesnt fix the problem, download HiJack This. Go to techsupportforum.com (there are others but this a good, free site) for instructions. They have a section devoted to HiJack This logs. DO NOT use HiJack This unless you are extremely knowledgeable about Windows and it's processes. You can seriously Bork your system. Let the pro's direct you.
Techsupportforum also answers any and all questions about comps including the net, hardware......you name it. As noted before, there are plenty of other forums but this one is fast and accurate as well as being a great place to learn!
Good luck and Merry Christmas!!

1. update your Norman's virus definitions
2. run a "full system scan"
