Ok i finally just got my baby biorb, its just four gallons (i wanted to try something small for my first fish tank) anyway i was thinking of combantions of fish i could put in it, so here they are:

:1 beta, 2-3 guppies, snail
:4 guppies, snail
:1 ghost shrimp, 2-3 guppies
: 2 dwarf frogs, 2-3 guppies
: 2 dwarf frogs, 1 beta,
So are any of these good combos, do you recomend any other combos.
Also are live plants a good or bad idea in a tank of that size?
What kind of snail if i do get one?

I think all the combos are overcrowded OR have compatibility problems.

- 1 betta
- up to 4 guppies
- up to 4 dwarf frogs
- up to 4 small (1.5" adult size) shrimp
- ? snails (depends on what kind... some common species max out as big as grapefruits)

If you mix and match, you need to lower the numbers so that your bioload isn't too big. Water quality is hard enough to keep high in such a small tank.

Don't mix betta & guppies. Guppies' long, flowing fins tend to bring out the aggressive tendencies in bettas.

I wouldn't mix frogs with fish in such a small tank because frogs are slow swimmers and not good scavengers; they have a hard time competing for food.

Shrimp are a little pickier about water conditions than guppies and bettas. So are the frogs. They might be frustrating for a beginner. Why don't you stick with fish for your first tank?

I recommend the betta. If you have a little cave and some pretty silk plants in the orb, a betta will stay active and fun to watch, not at all the boring, listless fish you see in that tiny cup at the store. If you really want multiple fish, go with the guppies. They come in lots of beautiful colors. Just stick with males so you don't have to worry about babies overcrowding your tank. ;)

Good luck with your new tank!

Disregard the 1 animal per gallon. That is not realistic and varies greatly depending on the animal.

I think that the dwarf frogs are out altogether.

I would go with 1 betta and 2-3 guppies. Live plants would be beneficial in this setup.

I'm not a fan of any of these "micro" tanks at all and I hope that you'll do your best to take care of the fish you put into them.

you may't positioned a male and lady betta at the same time basically like you may't positioned 2 adult males at the same time. the basically way this will be remotely useful is with a huge aquarium and far of hiding places. For that thank I say both a million male betta, 2 female bettas, 4 neon tetras or 2-3 platys or some thing of the kind.

Remember this little tidbit: 1 animal per gallon.
