You should be having regular PAP smears every year. You should have had one already so I suggest that you get to the doctor and get it checked out. There is probably nothing to worry about with your period because mine does that sort of weird stuff all the time and I'm 30. Each month is different for me as well. You just really need to get those PAPs done.

During adolescence, your period is going to change a lot. I used to be really light and last only 3 days now I'm really heavy and i last for like 5 days and i used to never have cramps and now I have really bad ones. Your diet and exercise routine can affect your period. also, because your hormones are still changing, so is your period. I would say that you need to go get an pap smear soon. You're supposed to get ur first one when you're 18 so anytime soon would be fine. They're probably going to suggest that you get on birth control to help to regulate your period.

Everyone is different and what is 'normal' for one person is different for the next person. I personally had stupid periods like this for a long time and there wasn't anything physically wrong with me....it's just another one of those things we women have to put up with....you might want to go to a health food store and look in their book section, sometimes they have suggestions for health supplements or diet changes that will change the way your body functions....if you go to a male OB/GYN they will probably tell you to go on the pill, it will regulate your period and make them shorter, but in the long run it isn't healthy for you to take for a long period of time. Try the health food store....maybe your Mom doesn't want to listen because she has had the same problem and just put up with it. She might not have an answer for you....you know mothers, some of them are not very good at communicating, especially if you have a problem she has had and has not been able to solve......

I have the same thing. And I'm 17 too. People just go through their periods differently and it sometimes gets weird when your still becoming a woman. Your hormones are out of wack and your body is still growing. If you're concerned about it you can always go to the doctor and get a physical. But I have the same problems. You're not alone! :)

first of all if you are sexually active without a doubt you should have had a pap smear. you might have a fibroid uterus, that also casues changes you might also have more estrogen hormone than you need and that will make you nauseous. i would say, see the GYN doc if this keeps up. always let a doctor tell you its nothing than self diagnosing yourself.

You'll notice that as you get older, especially during this time of your life your PMS symptoms will change. It sounds normal to me. I'm 25 now and have gone through many changes. As you get older, you'll notice more back aches and cramping may get worse. Also, you may be more emotional and moody.

Birth control should put you back on a regular period schedule. Consult with your doctor. Thousands of women have the same problem.

I haven't had a period since 1997, but I remember it being the same as yours. Heavy a couple of days, slower the next, then just when I thought it was about to stop, it would sneak up on me again. Nothing to worry about. The best person to consult about this if it really concerns you is a GYN.
